Nerium oleander (Hardy Red) is a flowering shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It has glossy, dark green leaves and bright red flowers that bloom in the summer. This plant prefers full sun and regular watering, but can tolerate some drought. It prefers well-draining soil with a neutral pH and should be planted in a pot with plenty of drainage holes. Hardy Red grows to an average height of 6-8 feet and has an upright habit, making it an excellent choice for hedges or screens.
