Elephant-Sized Purpose: Why What We Do Matters

So you may be asking yourself right about now– that all sounds great, but why does it matter?

We’re glad you asked!

According to a study from the Journal of Physiological Anthropology,  plants improve the physiological and psychological health of people. Researchers note, “Active interaction with indoor plants can reduce physiological and psychological stress compared with mental work. This is accomplished through suppression of sympathetic nervous system activity and diastolic blood pressure and promotion of comfortable, soothed, and natural feelings.” Houseplants are more than an eye-catching curiosity, they are a natural and healthy relationship between a person and their plants.

Many new clients have told us how creating their first houseplant collection from Potted Elephant benefited their well-being during the pandemic. In such strange and uncertain times, we are so glad to be a small part of helping our community cope and thrive in these changing ever times.

Both during the pandemic and beyond, we are excited by the different relationships we help people cultivate with plants. So excited, in fact, that we use our space to amplify artists, micro-businesses, local growers and community organizations.
