Philodendron erubescens ‘Red Emerald’ is a tropical evergreen native to the rainforests of South America. It has glossy, deep green leaves with reddish-purple undersides and veins. The foliage is heart-shaped and can reach up to 12 inches in length. In the right conditions, it will produce small white flowers. This plant prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil is dry. It prefers a well-draining potting soil with plenty of organic matter. Philodendron erubescens ‘Red Emerald’ has a vining habit and can be trained to climb or allowed to trail over the edge of its pot.
