Begonia sp.

2 inch pot

Begonia sp is a genus of flowering plants originating in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. This particular species is native to South America. The leaves are usually oval to round in shape, and range in color from dark green to bronze. The flowers are usually pink to white in color, and can be either single or double petaled. Water and lighting needs for Begonia sp are fairly moderate. They should be watered when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry, and kept out of direct sunlight. For potting soil, a loose and well-draining mix is recommended. A combination of potting soil, perlite, and compost will work well. Begonia sp typically grows in an upright but sprawling habit. It can reach heights of up to 12 inches tall. This species makes a great addition to both indoor and outdoor gardens, or as a houseplant.
