Thaumatophyllum stolobum
Thaumatophyllum stolobum, also known as the 'Giant Philodendron', is a stunning plant native to South America. It can be found growing in the rainforest undergrowth, climbing trees and rocks.
This plant boasts large, heart-shaped leaves that can grow up to 3 feet long and 2 feet wide. The leaves have a glossy texture and range in color from dark green to bronze. They are held on long, slender stems that can reach up to 6 feet in length. The plant also produces an interesting and unique inflorescence, consisting of a large, green spadix that is surrounded by a bright red spathe.
This plant has a trailing growth habit, and it can be trained to climb or allowed to trail over the edges of a pot or hanging basket. It makes an excellent statement piece in any indoor space or outdoor shaded area.
