Tradescantia sillamontana, also known as Cobweb Spiderwort, is a widely cultivated plant from Mexico. This erect and upright perennial is noted for its fleshy, olive colored leaves saturated with white, wooly hairs. In summer, the plant flowers a bright purple inflorescence. This easy to grow plant can be found in landscapes or as a container plant and makes a wonderful houseplant too. Trimming the plant encourages bushiness while tip pinching, after flowering, may encourage another flush. This plant tends to rescind in winter and does well being watered sparingly during the cold months.
