Vanilla x tahitensis
4 inch pot
Vanilla x tahitensis, also known as Tahitian Vanilla, is a hybrid between the Vanilla planifolia and Vanilla odorata species that originated in Tahiti, a French Polynesian island in the South Pacific. It is known for its unique flavor and aroma, which is why it is widely used in baking and perfumery. Vanilla x tahitensin is an evergreen, woody climbing vine that typically grows to lengths of up to 15 feet. Its dark green leaves are heart-shaped, with pointed tips and smooth, glossy surfaces. The small, white, tubular flowers have yellow centers and bloom in the summer. This lovely ornamental vine can be trained to climb up trellises, bringing a little of the South Pacific to your indoor garden.
